We will walk together for four years, through the 2500-year history of philosophy. During this adventure, we will wander through the most valuable gyruses of humanity and meet thinkers who shed light on their era and the following years. We will also get to know the conditions that allowed these thinkers to grow and the societies in which these conditions were formed.
We look forward to embarking on such an exciting adventure together.
Remember that this adventure, even if done together, will be yours alone; due to the nature of philosophy, only you will experience it for yourself. For philosophy is wholly individual; it is the individual's view of the universe, society and her/himself. Philosophy is the name of the process; it is a unique adventure that we go on together but that each individual builds and experiences according to her/himself. This adventure is also a step taken by each individual to know her/himself and to make sense of the universe.
The minor and double major programs offered to you during this process will undoubtedly contribute to your future life as well as your philosophy education and will add a different value to it.
Although only one year has passed since the establishment of the department (which is full quota in the first phase with a high base score among its peers), I believe that we will definitely create a privileged group with you, and therefore you will carry the pride of graduating from the Philosophy Department of Istinye University all your life.
