The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a comprehensive four-year undergraduate education across various disciplines including Psychology, Sociology, Turkish Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Translation and Interpretation, and Philosophy. Additionally, postgraduate programs are available in Psychology (with Thesis), Turkish Language and Literature (with Thesis), Psychology (without Thesis), and Clinical Psychology (without Thesis). Our programs are dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of human behavior and societal dynamics, with the overarching goal of serving and contributing to society, industry, and universal scientific knowledge. The Psychology Department at Istinye University, established in 2017, witnessed its inaugural graduates in 2021. Similarly, the English Psychology Department, established in 2018, is yet to confer graduates. Boasting faculty members renowned in their fields, our institution prioritizes student development by offering a diverse range of guest lectureships from reputable universities, thereby ensuring the provision of cutting-edge education.

Our departmental policies are centered on fostering the professional growth of our students and equipping them with contemporary knowledge. In Psychology, for instance, we aim to deliver evidence-based education complemented by practical applications and professional skill development. Through both Turkish and English language options, our psychology programs aim to furnish students with requisite competencies and knowledge essential for their future careers. Our curriculum aligns with the accreditation criteria outlined by the Turkish Psychologists Association, guaranteeing a comprehensive undergraduate education.

While internships are not mandatory within our curriculum, students are encouraged to seek volunteer opportunities through our extensive network, leveraging the resources of Medical Park and Liv Hospital chains affiliated with Istinye University. Practical courses embedded within our curriculum aim to enhance students' applied skills, preparing them to stand out among psychology graduates. Additionally, students are encouraged to engage in scientific research, with opportunities to publish their findings.

In the Department of English Language and Literature, launched in 2018, students are offered a diverse range of elective courses to specialize in various fields, including American Literature, comparative literature, linguistics, and translation. Established in 2018-2019, the Department of Translation and Interpreting aims to provide students with expertise in translation and interpreting while nurturing a foundational understanding of these disciplines. The curriculum encompasses a wide array of courses, including English Literature, linguistics, and foreign language teaching methods, equipping graduates with versatile skills applicable in diverse professional settings.

The Sociology Department, initiated in 2017, seeks to train sociologists capable of adopting diverse perspectives and utilizing rigorous research methodologies. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, founded in 2017, emphasizes research in Turkish language and literature subfields, fostering lifelong learning and promoting a culture of reading.
